RBN PARTICIPATED IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC NAVAL SYMPOSIUM SENIOR ENLISTED LEADERS WORKING GROUP 2023

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, DECEMBER 5 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) delegation attended the Western Pacific Naval Symposium for Senior Enlisted Leadership Working Group (WPNS SEL WG) Tokyo Japan Ver 3.0 in Tokyo, Japan. The symposium, hosted by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), commenced on December 5 until December 8, 2023.

 

The RBN delegation includes 12830 WO1 Fauzillahrahime bin Hj Awang Damit, the Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL), and 12853 WO2 Mohammad Izam bin Hj Othman, the Assistant SEL. The symposium was attended by 18 countries under the auspices of WPNS, aiming to enhance cooperation and knowledge exchange among defence leaders from various nations. Leaders from the Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) will strive to become wise and capable leaders. Additionally, the SELs will strengthen cooperation and security from various perspectives.

 

The symposium was inaugurated by the Master Chief Petty Officer of the MSDF, Azuma Kazuhito, serving as the host for the WPNS SELWG symposium this time. JMSDF provided various topics and discussions to share experiences and best practices in leading their military personnel. The diverse discussions among these countries have enhanced the preparedness and effectiveness of defence forces in facing increasingly complex and dynamic security threats in this era of globalization. Furthermore, the topics discussed in this symposium addressed current policies and guidelines in defence education and training to create professional and efficient forces.

 

Moreover, symposium participants had the opportunity to visit historical sites in Japan, including the JS Kumano ship docked at the Yokosuka Port Area, JMSDF 2nd Service School, Memorial Ship Mikasa in Yokosuka Japan, Childcare Center Taura Konohana – En, and an ancient Buddhist temple.

 

In the symposium's closing event, Master Chief Kazuhito Azuma emphasized the importance of international cooperation in achieving global security. He expressed hope for continued collaboration among defence member countries under the WPNS umbrella to enhance knowledge and experience exchange in leading and training national defence forces.
